Meet the hardworking and wonderful ladies behind the e-book project. From different backgrounds, nationalities and faith; what joins us together is our love for wanting to make a difference in the world. We hope this e-book changes lives the way it has started to change ours. From practically strangers to forming bonds that defy borders. In alphabetical order, here they are.


Camila Andrade is a young Brazilian and vibrant lady of African descent. She is an International Relations’ Analyst, who holds a specialization in Project Management and a Master’s Degree in International Relations. She plans to study further and obtain a Doctorate Program in Political Science. Created during her research in Masters, Camila founded “My Rwanda Brasil”, a project which aims to build a brigde between Brazil and Africa; showing a different perspective of Africa that it doesn’t associate with common themes – like hunger, disease and conflict.


Hanno Riak is from South Sudan and currently lives in Kansas City, Missouri. She attended at the University of Missouri, Kansas City where she studied medicine for two years before finding a different career she prefers to explore. She is now studying French, Sociology with an emphasis on Cultural Anthropology, and a minor in Political science. She loves music and listens to a wide range of music from Bachata to Reggae and also plays all string instruments. She is interested in diverse things, from working with baby pandas in Japan to working on chemistry problems and skateboarding. Her Instagram Page


Laksana Jiamchien was born in 1998 in Bangkok, Thailand. When she was 2 years old, she was adopted from the Pattaya Orphanage to Germany. African Dances and Dancehall are her passions. In 2015 she came back to the Pattaya Orphanage to do an internship as way of connecting to her roots. There are still lot of questions which await answers for her. Searching for roots and strength have always been a part of her life and she knows how to find it.


Lesheni Nghipundjwa is a Christian before anything. Born and raised in Oshakati, a small town in the Northern Namibia, she studies medicine in Zambia. This 22 year old young lady comes from humble beginnings and wears a demeanour of calm and focus as she is. The other half of Africanism today who is very hard-working and an epitome of grace personified. She believes that success comes to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams as well as the power of God. Her Instagram Page


OnyinyeOlufunmi Nwangwu is a blogger, visual artist and writer from Lagos, Nigeria. She is also a final year student of psychology in the University of Lagos. She is 22 years old. She is very passionate about Africa and organic products. She has an organic skin and hair care line, smoothies and food company, named after her paternal grandmother, Ajimi. She founded Africanism Today in 2016. She is a shameless bibliophile and food lover. Her Instagram Page

Sahra Ali is currently a third year English Literature student. She has a deep love for all things pop culture, with particular focus on the African diaspora. In her spare time she performs in theatre productions and aspires to write and perform her own work. She is the creator and editor of the Cinefiles Archive, a black film discussion channel, is of Somali descent and currently resides in the U.K


Zodidi J. Gaseb is a 34 year old mother of two, a former curator, a creative, an activist, an entrepreneur and an events manager at an institute that assists innovative entrepreneurs. She has dabbled in a number of ventures such as the Natural Hair movement in Namibia, appearing on tv and a number of local newspapers as well as international blogs with regards to her daily experience on identity. She also spoke on TedX Windhoek and serves as a board member for the National Arts Council of Namibia. Zodidi has two companies which focus on the celebration and integration of natural hair in society as well as debunking stereotypes and encouraging the African aesthetics. She’s also a mentor to a few young woman entrepreneurs and uses her experience to teach and learn. She’s a keen student of photography too and loves all things design. Her Instagram Page
